VideoScribe and GoConqr

I taught myself  how to use two different software's during my evaluation process, as I wanted the text to be more visually pleasing and interesting to look at. These included VideoScribe, where in which it is an interactive software, where you type your text out and then someone writes it out as you read it. The end product of this is a small video, where in which you just have to watch the text being written out to you. however, with mine I decided to add some music as well to make it more appealing to look at, but also to listen to.

The second software that I taught myself to use was GoConqr, this specific software allowed you to create text in an interesting way, whether that be through flashcards, slideshows or quizzes. I decided to use the flashcard effect when presenting my text, as it is more interactive through the use of having to click on the flashcards in order to flip them over, so instead of just reading the text infront of you, you have to interact with it.

Focus Group feedback

Skills Development

During the course of editing my music video, I decided to add in a fade at the end. However, I had not done it before, so in order for me to do it I had to figure out what would work best for the video. The reason as to why I wanted to add the fade in was because, it would fit in well with the zooming out of the dancer at the end of the video.

Audience Feedback on Promotional Package

The information above, is the feedback I was given for my Music Video as well as my Digipak from the peers within my class. The information above, will help me to decipher what I need to do next in order to improve the work that I have already done as a way of making it more visually appealing to my audiences.

Advertisement planning 2

I decided that the previous drawn up plan that I had done, didn't work as well as I wanted it to and it was not as visually appealing. So, I decided to try out another plan to see if that worked better. With this one, I decided to go against the idea of using the star rating system, and instead look at the idea of quotes instead, which worked a lot better on the screen as it became less cluttered and more spaced out.

Advertisement Planning

This particular image, Is my first plan for my advertisement. I want to include the traditional codes and conventions of a music advertisement, with the use of the star ratings across the bottom of the poster. The image I want to use itself is a selection of layered images that I had taken of my dancer to emphasise the movement of a dancer, as well as the continual fast past editing and dancing that my music video has.

Digipak mock up

These images above, are my constructed plans of my digipak. I like the way in which it starts off as the photographs being black and white and then when you open it up there is a bold, bright collection of colour. Additionally, I wanted to stick with the codes and conventions of a digipak, with the songs being placed onto the back, middle panel. This helps to give an authentic feel to my digipak as it is what people would expect to see.

First draft of my music video

Above, is my first draft of my music video. During the course of editing, I wanted to keep it simple with the use of a few overlays. The footage itself at this point is still incomplete, So, it ends at 1:32, instead of the full time. The reason as to why my first draft is incomplete, is purely on the fact that It was difficult to find times and days in order to film my footage. However, with the footage shown here, there is limited use of overlays, which is something that I want to work on for my final product, as I fell as if it will make it more visually appealing to look at. Rather than it just being plain footage with no use of effects.

Initial Digipak

This is my initial idea for my Digipak plan, I want to use bright colours that would be consistent with an 80's style and theme, as the song itself has that kind of tempo to it. However, I still want my product to look modern and 'with the times'. So in order for me to do that, I need to incorporate my dancer into the digpak as well. By this, I am meaning images of her doing a particular dance move, or alternatively standing still or close ups of either the face or feet to emphasis certain sections of my music video itself.

First shoot of music video (practice footage)

With this particular footage, I wasn't really sure of how to film a dance video. So, I went with what I knew was a popular convention, which was to have my dancer walking into the hall and making the visual steps of getting ready to be the important sections of the video. However, when it came to editing, it did not work at all as y footage itself did not match up correctly and I hadn't thought about the process of filming for the editing itself. Which in turn made it increasingly difficult to edit and improve. Moreover, I wasn't happy with the footage that I had taken, as there where parts where the camera was not in focus, or I hadn't taken enough care in making sure that I had framed my dancer correctly.

This is a clear representation of my framing that does not work. As the dancer herself is not in focus and neither is her background.
